My Style!

I often receive many questions about how I would describe my personal style, or just what it is.  I never really was able to describe my style. I'm not just girly, or edgy, or indie.  I'm just me.  I now that sounds super corny, but its true.  I draw inspiration from everything but I think I finally have nailed the aesthetic of my style.  MIXING.  I mix everything I wear.  I love to mix trends, styles, prints, and textures.  My outfits are typically quite classic, but with an edgy or eccentric twist.  I thought I could share with you all some of my favorite and most "Abigail-like" outfits in hope of inspiring you to help discover your own style.  xo, Abigail

Finding Beauty in Everything

This post is going to be quite different today.  It's not directly about styles or fashion, but about appreciating beauty in everything.  Inspiration doesn't have to come from a runway show, inspiration can hit you everyday.  I was at my friend's house this morning, walking around her yard and taking pictures.  I was amazed at how beautiful little dew drops on a blade of grass, and a rusty water spout were.  We also had a ball painting everything in sight with a quick coat of gold spray paint.  Then I realized that we can tend to overlook simple beauty in our lives.  Beauty isn't makeup, clothes, or hair.  It is those small little moments of perfection we notice in nature or art.  Don't ever search for inspiration, wait for it to come to you, and pay close attention to your surroundings.  xo, Abigail

Velvet

This classic, luxurious material is making a comeback this season.  You can find dresses and ball gowns in this rich fabric as well as your everyday cardigan.  Velvet is the perfect way to add a touch of glamour to your casual, everyday look.  Chloe Moretz looked stunning in a velvet Alexander McQueen dress at the premier of 'Dark Shadows'.  Jessica Alba was also glowing in another velvet gown.  Both beauties rocked velvet in a deep burgundy color that suited both of their contrasting skin tones.  Velvet blazers and cardigans are also very up-and-coming.  The grey blazer below can be found at JCPenney's for only $40, a perfect alternative for the more budget conscious.

Cozy Sweaters

My favorite pieces so far this fall are big, cozy sweaters.  They are comfy and practical during the cool months, and very cute!  You can find big sweaters practically everywhere, from JCrew, to Michael Kors, and even Forever 21.  Experiment with a wide range of colors, prints, and designs.  Whether you go for a classic cable knit, a flirty heart pattern, or a daring animal face, the styling possibilities are endless.  Sweaters can be worn with jeans and some riding boots for a casual look, a lace skirt for a more polished vibe, or even leather pants and studded boots for an edgy twist.

Leather Frenzy: NY Fashion Week

At New York Fashion Week, something I prominently noticed was the use of leather.  Jason Wu changed his feminine look to a sexy, skin-tight leather collection.  Leather was used in sexy, short pieces as well as modest, sophisticated pieces for a cool twist.  Colored leather was also spotted in deep burgundies.  If you want to try this trend, and are a little unsure, try a leather t-shirt or a long jacket in leather.  But if you are fearless with fashion, go for it and try cute little leather dresses and skirts and maybe even go for color! xx, Abigail

Fall 2012: Equestrian

I am more than elated as I type this, one of the biggest trends this fall is equestrian!  I have always loved the equestrian look, but never went for it.  This fall make sure to invest in some cute riding boots, riding jackets, tight pants, plaid, and leather all in rich, neutral shades.  When shopping this look think Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger to get the preppy, equestrian look.  Celebrities like Gwen Stefani have been spotted in this style, and all of my style bibles (magazines) have said this look is going to be really big this fall!  Fashionably, Abigail xx

 

Floral Printed Denim

Floral printed denim adds an adorable and girly twist to your usual everyday jeans.  Flowery prints in pastel colors on jeans and pants alike are cute and unexpected, but totally work to adding girly vibes to summer wardrobes.  This feminine alternative for plain denim has been spotted on multiple celebrities, and can be found in many stores, from Bloomingdale's to Pacsun.

Tying T-Shirts

Hello bloggers!  Sorry I haven't been posting anything recently, I've been majorly busy!  But here's a new, easy summer trend for you!  Spice up your summer top by bunching the fabric to the front on the side.  Then tie the fabric into a knot and secure with a rubber band.  Confused? Just look at a picture of the final product below.  This trend is cute and easily achieved.  I love it as a great way to add a little fun to my everyday summer look.

Colored Jeans!

My absolute favorite spring trend of the moment is colorful jeans!  Jeans in hues of blue, green, pink, yellow, and more are so cute right now.  Colored jeans add a fun pop to any outfit, and gives you an excuse to wear jeans everyday ;).  Colorful jeans are the perfect trend for spring,  I have a blue pair and a pink pair myself, and I'm crossing my fingers for a green pair!

Turban Headbands

Fashionistas listen up!  Haha okay now that I have your attention, I need to tell you about a recent that is blowing up... Turban headbands!  I bought a leopard one in February because I had seen Rachel Zoe wearing them and I ah-dore her, but this season there popularity has increased dramatically.  These cute knotted headbands are sold everywhere, from Forever 21, to Nordstroms, to Marc Jacobs.  They are a cute way to make an outfit, coming in many patterns and solids.  This trend is still growing, so step ahead of the curve and go get yourself a cute turban headband!

'Peter Pan' Collars

A new trend that I love are these cute 'Peter Pan' style collars.  They are short, quirky and round collars that can add an indie touch to a classic style top.  I put a picture of me wearing my own 'Peter Pan' styled collar, I just purchased my shirt today, and I love it!!  Anybody can pull off this cute and quirky look.

Peplum Skirts

A new trend that has been spotted on the runway, magazines, and real-life is peplum skirts!  Peplum skirts feature a fitted skirt with a shorter layer of loose ruffle over it, there are some pictures of them that I featured below.  Some of the pictures feature the look right off of the runway, such as Jason Wu's spring collection, while you can find some more affordable alternatives at stores in your mall.  These skirts flatter girls with thin hips, created a more curvaceous figure. Peplum skirts are really hot for spring, so I recommend grabbing one before stores run out!

Seventeen Magazine Style Wars

Seventeen Magazine has something new on their website that every girl can be a part of.  For their "Real Girl Style Wars."  You post a picture of an outfit that shows your style, share your inspiration, and then other girls around the world can see your style!  You can also compare two photos of girls who have unique style and vote which is your favorite!!  I'm posting my pictures today!  May The Most Stylish Win!! xx

Calvin Klein Inspired By "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo"

The makeup at the Calvin Klein New York fashion week show seemed to be distonctly inspired by Rooney Mara's character in the upcoming movie, "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo."  Where else would Calvin Klein think of black bobs and bleached eyebrows!?
